| RV870 release postponed to Q4 2009 |
|
After reporting, that AMD's next-generation graphics will be released in July 2009, we have to disappoint you - they ran into some problems. It looked like AMD was going to have big advantage over Nvidia, who announced their next generation of video cards for October 15th, but according to latest rumors, release of RV870 is postponed at least to 4th quarter of 2009 or possibly even to the beginning of 2010. How come? TSMC, the company that works with AMD has ran into some problems with the whole 40nm manufacturing process and it seems that this is causing the delay. Since this same company also cooperates with Nvidia, it is very possible, that Nvidia's GT300 will also get postponed. After anticipating very exciting summer with lots of progress new benchmarks and, it seems that it is going to be a long and boring one. It is interesting, that Radeon HD 4770, which is also built in 40nm process, got released on time. Source: Expreview Â
