| How many watts do we need? |

Xbit Labs have decided to write an article on PC power consumption, which is starting to become more and more important factor in today's developed and yet green-wannabe world. They really took it to the enxt level by monitoring each power line in the PC separately and doing so for various PC setups under various stress situation (Prime95, gaming, 3dmark, Futuremark, Windows start up). They found out, that differences between different computers (office computer vs. gamin computer) are ENORMOUS! A high-end gaming computer under can consume almost 10 times more power under full-load than a slow office computer under load (500W vs 60W). Obviously you can not compare these two setups as the office computer does not even allow gaming compared to the other one, but it is very fair to compare Windows start up power consumption, which is 4 times higher on the high-end gaming PC (200W vs. 50W). Did you ever think about that, when you were buying a new PC? Probably not...but it has become a very important one and you should - especially if you intend to have it running 24/7.
