If you own a MacBook Pro, chances are you're aware that the little aluminium wonder has a habit of getting very hot when encountering anything CPU-heavy, or anything running via Flash. It's irksome, but there are ways to keep it cool and below the 100 degrees C that will start damaging its internal components. 

So, unless you want it only for frying eggs and heating igloos, there are two main techniques that will ensure you can run a Flash game without having it burn through your legs if you tab out to log on at o2.co.uk for more than two minutes, listen in. you need two things: smcfancontrol, and a cooling pad. 

Okay, I'm sure the first seemed fine, but most swish MacBook owners are recoiling and hissing at the idea of a third-party pad to sit their MacBook on. Personally, we advise you only use it to monitor your MacBook's internal temperature, because altering the fan speed can rapidly wear out the fans 

Hopefully, Apple will eventually release some form of update that allows MacBook Pro models not to go completely crazy when running Flash or other programs that shouldn't have it running super-hot, but these two straightforward, cheap methods will see you right for some time.
